[Whatever it was Giorno was going through in his day to day life, Dio felt confident that his brother could hold his own. They were similar like that, able to rise against struggle and turmoil and be stronger for it.
He didn't worry about Giorno most days even if he did keep an open ear out for any mention of his name - any talk about a young, blonde RAC agent. He tells himself it didn't matter, that whatever happened would happen without him, but even then it doesn't do much to quell the very softest worries he may never admit to.
He holds his ankles as he leans back some, head tilted off to the side in thought as he shrugs his shoulders.]
[ that's actually the one thing he doesn't have. giorno pats his pockets, checking to see if he can find something he can give to him; he has a few candies, but nothing notable. he gives him two, then tells him, ]
I'll be right back.
[ when he comes back, dio will have enough for a few days: a case of water, dried foods, canned goods, something warm for him at the moment - stew and bread and sweets, of course, because giorno wants him to eat something nice too. there's not much in stock since the streets are in chaos, so the variety of food that he got is limited, but at least he won't have to show his face outside for a while.
he dumps the box to the side, rather pleased with what he's been able to gather for him. ]
[While Giorno was out Dio went back to sitting outside on the roof. The sun was dying past the horizon and the view of the city cast in a warm kaleidoscope of colors was almost peaceful.
He keeps an ear out for Giorno's return and when he hears the sound of the door opening Dio picks himself up again to peek inside. The amount of food brought back makes him pause, wrinkling his nose at some of the boxes.]
[ he does something good for dio and dio immediately thinks there's a calamity. he's not entirely wrong, and anyway he's not sure how to tell him how worried he is, so he settles with something in the middle: ]
I worry about you.
This way you'll have enough to live on for a while, and you won't have to deal with whatever it is that's going on outside.
[ he moves towards dio again, his hand on his forehead, on his neck to check his temperature. when dio squirms away from his touch, giorno just tsks and grabs him back, frowning. ] You're a bit warm.
I know. [But he doesn't know what to do about it or how to handle Giorno's worries. They shouldn't be his responsibility, right?
Instead of saying anything else he finds himself more occupied with trying to squirm away from his brother's hands, ending with a very upset look when he's forced back to being handled.] I've been outside in the sun! Giorno, I feel perfectly fine. [Not that he would say anything if he didn't, but...]
If you keep worrying like this your hair will go gray.
[ dio is so pale that giorno imagines he'd burn quite easily under the sun. why he chooses to sunbathe like a cat is beyond him.
he releases him after a while. ]
You are the only family I have here, and there is a plague outside. As a child, you'll be more prone to contracting diseases. [ he presses his lips to a thin line. ] I don't .... want to be difficult, especially where safety is concerned. There are other things to think about as well.
But. You know how it is. [ he glares at him. ] If I find out you've gotten worse in the next couple of days, I'm locking you in at my place until you are well.
